Baton Rouge High Schoolers Lead Anti-ICE Protest
By Eugene Collins
A group of high school students organized an anti-ICE protest in downtown Baton Rouge today, calling for an end to deportations and greater protections for immigrant families. Led by Iran Garza, the demonstration aimed to raise awareness and demand change.
Protesters marched with bold signs and chanted together, drawing attention from the community. The event remained peaceful but carried a strong message, as participants shared personal stories about the impact of immigration policies.
Community advocate Cristina Casas addressed the crowd with a brief but powerful speech on knowing one's rights when dealing with immigration enforcement. She stressed the importance of legal awareness and encouraged attendees to share the information with their families.
As the demonstration ended, organizers urged continued activism, emphasizing that the fight for immigrant rights does not stop with a single protest. The student-led effort sent a clear message that Baton Rouge's youth are engaged and ready to stand up for justice.
