SB2: A Risk to Our Kids and Communities

By: Tia Fields, Community Advocate

Louisiana’s Senate Bill 2 (SB2) poses a significant threat to our children and communities by increasing the transfer of youth into adult prisons. This approach doesn’t make us safer. Instead, it disrupts young lives, increases recidivism, and denies opportunities for rehabilitation in environments designed for their needs.

The key to stronger, safer communities lies in investing in education, family support, and prevention programs—not punitive measures. SB2 sends the wrong message and risks the future of our most vulnerable youth. Together, we must advocate for solutions that truly protect and empower our kids.
